How are you tuned in with the season of the year and how does that play out in your life?
I was out for a walk today, in my neighborhood, partly misting, rain stopping and starting again. I was aware of the bare deciduous trees, the birds flitting from bare branch to bare branch. And the thought came—what does Winter/end of Fall mean to me?
What does the season Fall symbolize?
Of course, it is full of all the various holidays which are overlaid on ancient earth celebrations. So, for many cycles of time, we have used the end of the year as a time of celebrations.
But it is also a time of Nature letting go, leaves falling, flowers dying, crops ending for the season, animal’s coats getting thicker, some animals hibernating, some storing food for the winter, large migrations. It is a time of quiet, going within, pondering. In the northern hemisphere the weather is colder and there are less hours of daylight.
Winter/end of Fall to me means going within, spending time just being, desire for more quiet time. If I really sink into the natural rhythm of this season, it is a time of slowing down, of letting go of things not necessary, of re-examining my life, even day to day and asking is this how I want it to be? If not, then making changes.
What does this time of the year mean to you? How are you finding peace and joy as this season is upon us?
For me, spending time in Nature, even if it is just walking around my neighborhood, is soothing and uplifting. Being grateful for all her Beauty and Bounty is very calming for my nervous system.
I hope that you will consider how you can have a deeper connection with the seasons and the changes that the seasons bring as a way to smoothly navigate your life these days. Grounding yourself in Mother Nature is a great way to stay balanced and calm and to get inspiration from her as we move thru the seasons.
Much love to you during these Holy Days.
