The beauty of nature is a balm for me, even just seeing the sun shining outside lifts my spirits. I just love taking pictures of the beauty I see as I take walks around my neighborhood or take my youngest grandson for a walk in his stroller or notice the hawk perched on street light along the highway on my way to work. The simple but stunning beauty of a flower or a sunrise or a child laughing brings incredible joy, delight and gratitude to me, if I but stop for even just an instant, to take it all in.
What brings a smile to your face in the midst of a stressful day?
It’s a wonderful and simple way for me to reconnect in the moment with the Earth, with Nature, to reset my thoughts and spirit, bringing me back to my center, my core essence. Such a simple act of admiring and noticing and paying attention to the beauty around me.
In cities where most of us live our busy lives, it is easy to forget our connection with the natural world.
An easy way to ground and calm yourself, to get some perspective on what is going on in your life and to find peace and joy is by simply walking in a local park, or taking your shoes off and walking on a patch of grass, lying down on the ground and gazing at the day or night sky. If you are blessed to be near an undeveloped forest, park, hill or body of water, even a short time there can brighten your day and shift your biology and your attitude.
Try to find a spot in the natural world of beauty near you.
They are all about us, even in the biggest, densest cities of concrete and tall buildings. It may be a beautiful flower arrangement or magnificent tree you pass by every day to and from work or a bird that sits outside your window or a view of the river/mountain/lake/park from your office in a high-rise building.
Feed your soul with these moments in nature’s beauty as often as possible.
These connections with nature ease our nervous systems, bring us back to center, calm us and remind us of our connection to the natural world around us, especially as we move through these changing times. It is Mother Nature’s gift to us.
Give yourself this gift frequently. You deserve it!!
